Making Butterflies

Thanks to Aunt Brenda, who ironically is a kindergarten teacher, the kids have got to watch caterpillars turn into butterflies. I have to admit, it was a neat process for me to see too. She bought the kids 4 caterpillars in a jar with food already in the jar. After about a week or so, the caterpillars will ca coon, which is what this first picture is of. Sorry this picture is kind of gross to look at.

Next, we had to tape the ca coons to the top of the butterfly cage. This was Timmy's job. I couldn't stand to get this close the creatures. Easton and Allie were so into this.

Then we waited....for about a week. The book said about 7 days and Easton and Allie counted down the days. Finally one at a time, there came butterflies. We kept them in the cage with water for a couple of days until Allie held each one and then let them free.

Very neat idea for your kids, especially at this age. Thank you Aunt Brenda!!!
